The 5-Minute Face for Busy Mornings

The exact order I follow when I have five minutes and still want to look fresh and put together.

Most mornings I do not have thirty minutes for makeup. Between the heat, the to-do list, and the door that needs to be out of, I have about five. And honestly, five is plenty once you know the order to work in.

This is the exact routine I reach for when I am short on time but still want to look fresh. Six steps, top to bottom, no fuss.

1. Even out, do not cover up (60 seconds)

Skip full foundation. A little tinted moisturiser or concealer only where you need it (around the nose, under the eyes, over any redness) evens you out in seconds and still looks like skin.

2. Wake up the eyes with brows (45 seconds)

Brush your brows up and fill any gaps lightly. Groomed brows make you look awake and pulled together faster than anything else.

3. Add life with cream blush (30 seconds)

Press a cream blush onto the apples of your cheeks with your fingers. Cream over powder when you are rushing, it blends with no brushes and gives that lit-from-within flush.

4. One coat of mascara (30 seconds)

Just the top lashes, one coat. It opens the eyes instantly. Save the second coat for days you have more time.

5. A tinted lip (20 seconds)

A lip balm with colour or a soft tint does double duty: it finishes the face and you can reapply it without a mirror later.

6. Lock it in (15 seconds)

A quick mist of setting spray, because we live in the heat and the day is long. This keeps the whole thing fresh for hours.

Why the order matters

Working top to bottom means nothing smudges what you just did, and grouping it like this keeps you from fussing. The whole point is to look like you, rested and ready, not like you spent an hour at the mirror.

Five minutes, six steps, done. Try it tomorrow morning and see how much calmer the rush feels.
